hey guys.
I'm 18 years old and I've had this badly for about 2 years.

I watched the drag races without ear protection, that night a ringing started and it progressively got worse until it stayed at a certain volume.. I know the pain you're all going through, it's absolute torture.

Before you worry about fixing it, just don't let it get worse! no loud ipods or high noise for too long, I promise it will get worse. If you go to concerts, stay back. It's not worth the permanent damage I've gotten. Sorry everyone, know your pain. It's destroying my sleep, but you can manage it. <3

Hello everyone. I am 53 and the tinnitus is 22. Is like one of you already said, just ignore it. Mine has a loud pitch and even louder if under stress. I been vegan for 15 years now, taken many different supplement and that did not help either.

I am 34 years old and I have tinnitus since I was a child. Right know I can’t hear anything at 5000Hz or higher. I don’t think about it all the time, but it does affect my life in many ways. I have a problem in verbal communication. I am not relaxed when I interact with most of the people around, because I spent too much effort trying to concentrate and understand what they are saying. Too much effort makes me miss the joke most of the times, so my problem with verbal communication affects non verbal communication as well. I find it more and more difficult to fit with other people and I spend most of my time with a very restricted group of people, including only my girlfriend and three or four very close relatives. Although I try to do my best, I have had a problem in finding a job during the last 2 years. I understand that a job is demanding from me to be always alert and make it look easy at the same time. But most of the people, that can’t understand the tinnitus problem, just see a man with slow reactions that needs to ask again to be sure he heard the right thing. I understand that this can cause annoyance and most of the people will jump into a conclusion before they even give you a real chance to get the job done.

The problem with tinnitus is that it is affected by many different things.
1. Infections of the ears cause by dirty swimming pools, you had in the past,
2. Problem with allergies that cause a nasal blocking and affect the air in the nasal-ear system,
3. One missing tooth on the back of the jaw could cause asymmetry that affects the temporomandibular joint,
4. High blood pressure makes it worse,
5. Tension on the neck due to bad body position,
6. Stress,
7. Cigarette, caffeine, sugar, alcohol,
8. Aspirin, antibiotics (they are everywhere), steroid hormones,
9. Exposure to loud or continuous noise at work
10. Hear loss causes more hear loss. While you give up trying to understand what other people say, the brain becomes dull with verbal skills. (Alzheimer's disease is connected with hear loss)

I don’t have much hope for a cure, I try to eliminate the factors that make it worse and keep myself healthy with everyday exercise for mind and body.

I don't know if anyone has tried this but my Mum had tinnitus about 20years ago because of severe stress and a friend recommended Gingko Biloba vitamin. She took it for 4 months and the tinnitus went away and never returned.

I had a Viral Labryinthitis in my left ear almost six years ago and I have had constant loud ringing since the morning I woke with it. It's the only thing I can hear in that ear since I am permanently deaf in that ear now. I only get by with always having some music on or TV in the background to drown it out. If anyone finds a way to at least quiet it a little please pass it on.

I really don't remember when mine began but I've had it bad for years. It started occasionally and I'd heard the old wives tale that someone is talking about you if you hear ringing in your ears, so I just let it go but now, it,s torture, it gets to sounding like crickets chirping and even some wierd squaking sound. I think hearing aids that cancel noise are out there but the're expensive

Contrary to what the advertisers or "specialist" say, there it is really NO cure for this problem. I have had it for more than 8 years. Last night I could not sleep, the ringing just got louder. I am 63 years and I went to this little church (about 25' X 100') about 8 years ago. The drums, piano, organ, tamborines and other musical instruments sounded great ( that was until I went outside) My ears have never been the same. I was told by the ear specialist that a little 'thread' breakes when sound becomes too much for the ears. The exercise he told me was try not to concentrate on 'listening" to the sound. It works sometimes, but when you are in very quiet sittings, or reading, it's impossible. Please warn your young people that playing loud music with windows , doors closed in small areas, rooms cars, ear-phone etc, will ruin their hearing forever.
Thanks

I had aan attack of Menears disease9that is what I've been diagnosed with) and I have lost my hearing in one hear. The doctor says the nerves have been damage due to the Menears and that I won'y get my hearing back in that ear.I still say that God is in control and no man knows what may or may not happen.Anyway I have this horribly loud noise non stop in my head.It sometimes will be a little less but mostly very loud, makes it hard to hear out of my good ear.I have been trying the lipoflavonoids and are hoping they will help!If anyone knows of anything else to try please let me know!

I have been experiencing Tinnitus since 2006. My absolute guess of attaining it was from going to three different clubs 3 times in one week when I was 17. The third time I went that week, the ringing never went away and I knew it was because the speakers/music were insanely loud. At times of peace and quiet, it gets irritating... almost as if it just gets louder and louder by the second. I haven't heard of peace and quiet in 4 years.
My little cure is I made my own iTunes playlist and play it at night when I can't sleep because of it; especially without any background noise such as a fan/AC. Throughout the day, I don't normally hear it, but sometimes, I feel like I can hear various pitches that others don't. Maybe it's just my intuitive hearing. Nonetheless, I feel that it's been getting slightly worse over the years and debilitating my hearing capability.
Though hope is slim, there are still a number of ways to soften the ringing and a small chance of it just going away (I've heard a couple stories); but the aforementioned article is probably most suitable to follow in reducing the intensity of Tinnitus and possibly ridding it.
Also, depending on your age, be mindful of what noise-level environments you enter, especially if you have control over it. Such environments that may effect your hearing and possibly worsening Tinnitus for the night, day(s), or more are: clubs, bars, concerts, blasting music in your car, room or home, and others.
Take care all, and be sure to input your word to help others.
